A Message From Your CHEF President

December, 2018

Happy Holidays, from your friends at CHEF! 2018 has been an exciting and eventful year for CHEF and its members, with 2019 promising even more for you.

In December, our Holiday Networking Event, which benefited The Boulevard, had over 80 attendees. We enjoyed partnering with our co-sponsors: the First Illinois Healthcare Financial Management Association (FIHFMA), the Greater Illinois Chapter Health Information and Management Systems Society (GIC HIMSS), and the National Association of Health Service Executives (NAHSE). November was very busy, with a full day of Face to Face ACHE credits (6 hours), a tour-networking event at Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center, plus (2) C-Suite dinners.

On January 24th, CHEF has lined up outstanding panelists to discuss “Providing Culturally and Linguistically Appropriate Services”, to help with our increasingly diverse healthcare communities.

The 43rd CHEF Annual Meeting will be held on February 12, 2019, at Soldier Field. Registration is open for CHEF’s most well-attended event of the year. Attendees will enjoy a casual reception while networking with nearly 400 of your colleagues and peers. During the reception, ACHE Regent, Dr. Rupert Evans, FACHE, and CHEF will present to you our 2018 Award Recipients. The program features an award winning author and speaker, Jon Burroughs, MD, MBA, FACHE, FAAPL, who will lead an interactive session on How We Can Succeed in Healthcare Transformation. Please tell your colleagues and I hope to see you there!

Have you been wanting to earn your FACHE? With the help of CHEF, you can prepare for the BOG Exam.  Starting January 16, 2019, CHEF will again offer a 6-week mentoring/study group session for ACHE members who are working on pursuing their FACHE credential.  The study sessions will be 3 hours in length, with approximately 2.5 hours of content review and 30 minutes of discussion.

CHEF is excited to announce our new Mentorship Program. This will be available to members at all levels, including early careerists, mid-careerists, and senior executives, as well as executives in transition. It has been said that the more you give, the more you receive. If you are able to be a CHEF mentor, please let us know.
