A Message From Your Interim Region 3 Metropolitan Chicago Regent
Greetings!
I wanted to take this opportunity to introduce myself, and share some of my thoughts and hopes about being your Regent for an interim period between the tenures of your elected Regents for Metropolitan Chicago.? The need for an interim Regent arose when the incumbent, Anita Halvorsen, FACHE, took a full-time leadership position at the American College of Healthcare Executives as the Vice President, Professional Development.? Those of us who know Anita cannot think of anyone so well-suited for this role.? Anita has a passion for the benefits offered by ACHE to its members, is devoted to a lifetime of learning, and leads others by strong example.? Our next elected Regent begins his three year tour of duty at ACHE Congress in March 2017, and the membership in our district have elected Rupert M. Evans, DHA, FACHE.? Rupert is the Chairman and Program Director of the graduate program in healthcare administration at Governors State University.? He is a healthcare leader of national significance, and our members will definitely benefit from his dedicated mentorship.
These next few months are exciting ones for Chicago healthcare executives in the areas of education and networking!? The continuing Leadership Education Series offered by CHEF has become very popular, and if you?re a policy wonk like me, you won?t want to miss the next one on January 18 ?Predicting Healthcare Policy.?? And if you have decided it?s time to take the ACHE exam for Fellow, January 26 is the kick-off for CHEF University.? I personally know many FACHE members who are grateful they?ve attended this in the past, and the program has only become stronger over the years.
Plan to attend CHEF’s most well-attended event of the year, the CHEF Annual Meeting.? This year marks the 41st anniversary of CHEF, and you will not want to miss the event where you can enjoy a casual dinner, network with over 400 of your colleagues and peers, and congratulate those who have earned industry awards.? Then sit back and listen to a special Keynote Session “The Transformation of American Healthcare: ?A Time for Leaders“?delivered by Ian Morrison, Author, Consultant and Futurist.
And finally, ACHE?s 2017 Congress on Healthcare Leadership offers endless possibilities and unlimited opportunities to collaborate and ?think outside of the box,? and to help leaders understand and prepare for the myriad challenges awaiting them inside a transformative healthcare environment.? Healthcare leaders from around the world convene at Congress.? Would you like to be in attendance?
We are fortunate to have such an active chapter of ACHE and reside and work the city where it all happens.? I am grateful to be your Regent, even for a short period, and would welcome the opportunity to help you find your own opportunities within with our prestigious organizations.
