A Message From Your Region 3 Metropolitan Chicago Regent

ACHE Members of the Metropolitan Chicago area,

Is there such a thing as a ?THANK YOU Newsletter??? Well, if there isn?t, then there should be?.and this letter will serve in that purpose (and maybe go viral)!

We recently held a gathering with many new ACHE FACHEs, members who have volunteered this past year, leaders of ACHE Higher Education programs, current and past Chapter Board members and Regents, along with recent event sponsors, to say THANK YOU!? We thanked these busy professionals for their time, commitment, ideas, energy and relentless support of our local chapter and Regent professional development efforts.? I?d like to give a shout out to a few specific individuals to highlight their efforts?

  • Diane Howard, PhD, FACHE was recognized by ACHE at the 2016 Congress event for recruiting and advancing the greatest number of ACHE members in 2015.? Way to encourage these future leaders to start early in their involvement in our chosen professional organization!? And also thank you to Diane for spearheading the coordination of 2 graduate student focused events this past year (Association, Insurance & Consulting, and Administrative Fellowships).? With 274 in attendance plus representatives from over 50 companies and organizations from around the county, these events were a hit (and will be repeated for years to come)!
  • Dawn Gay, chair of the Higher Education Network for our Metropolitan Chicago ACHE region has developed relationships with all 8 of our local health management programs, conducting 6 in-person visits with program students so far this year.? I have no doubt that we will visit all programs by the end of the year!
  • And to Georgia Casciato, FACHE and JV Magnati, FACHE, a shout out for orchestrating the Regent (and Chapter) Awards for our members.? Theresa Burkhart, FACHE and Mark Mansell, FACHE will be outstanding, filling these leader?s shoes co-chairing this committee.? Thank you for remaining on the Chapter Board Georgia and JV!
  • Arth Patel is being thanked for organizing the Executive Shadow Day in February.? Arth paired 15 early careerists with FACHE executives to ?walk in their shadow? around Groundhog Day.? A mini-mentoring opportunity continued for the 4th year thanks to Arth!

There is a lot happening with ACHE this spring as well ? See www.ache.org for details of any of these activities:

  • Interested in presenting at ACHE Congress in 2017?? Call for papers is happening now!
  • Interested in volunteering at a national level?? The Nominating Committee is looking for a local member, as well as the call for Governor role is open.
  • Thinking about who you?d like to see recognized as a Gold Medal or Lifetime Service Award winner for ACHE?? The deadline for applications is early July.

Each of these leaders, and many others, volunteered (and continue to do so) for the local ACHE Chapter ? CHEF, and the Regent activities for YOU!? Thank you to each specifically in this newsletter edition, and thank you to their families for allowing them time to dedicate to YOU and YOUR GOALS.

Take spring by storm!? Be in touch,

Best,

Anita Halvorsen, FACHE
