Douglas M. Silverstein has been President of Evanston Hospital since 2012, the flagship hospital of NorthShore University Health System (NorthShore), part of NorthShore – Edward-Elmhurst Health. Evanston Hospital is a 354-bed, Level 1 trauma center with a full range of surgical and medical specialty services. It is also NorthShore’s primary teaching hospital (Academic Affiliation: University of Chicago), serving communities from Chicago, north and west to the Wisconsin state line.

Mr. Silverstein joined NorthShore in 1992 and served as an Assistant Vice President, Vice President, and Senior Vice President at Evanston Hospital. he assumed the position of Senior Vice President of Glenbrook Hospital in 1998 and President of Glenbrook Hospital in 1999.

He received his BS from Northwestern University in 1980 and his MHSA from the University of Michigan in 1982. Prior to joining NorthShore, Mr. Silverstein worked at both the University of Chicago – Weiss Memorial Hospital and Rush Presbyterian St. Luke’s Medical Center. Mr. Silverstein was a fellow in the American College of Healthcare Executives and an ACHE member for 35 years. He was also a member of the Regents Advisory Council for 22 years and past Regent for Illinois Metropolitan Chicago.
