Message from Your ACHE Regent – Winter/Spring 2017
I am infinitely grateful for the opportunity to have served as the ACHE Regent for Illinois – Metropolitan Chicago these past few months.? While my interim stint may have set records for its short duration, I have found it more professionally fulfilling than I could have ever imagined.? I have witnessed almost one hundred healthcare executives join our ranks as new members, advance their professionalism as new Fellows, or earn the retention of their credential since last November.? I have been honored to have introduced the ACHE Career Achievement Award to two executives of national significance, Peter W. Butler from Rush University and Medical Center, and Pamela M. Davis, FACHE from Edward-Elmhurst Health System.? I renewed my sense of esteem for our up-and-coming healthcare leadership by serving as a judge for the 2017 Richard J. Stull Essay Competition for Healthcare Management.? I have been able to teach those preparing to take the exam for their Fellow credential through our local chapter?s 6-week educational forum, ?CHEF University?.??? Most importantly to me, I will cherish forever the relationships I have entered or renewed with our membership, the officers and volunteers of CHEF, and the incredibly supportive staff of ACHE.? To crown it all off, I was humbled and grateful for the chance to spend a few minutes speaking with one of my personal heroes, Thomas C. Dolan, PhD, FACHE, who honored us with his presence at the CHEF Annual Dinner.
Our next elected Regent begins his three-year tour of duty at ACHE Congress in March 2017, and the membership in our district have wisely chosen Rupert M. Evans Sr., DHA, FACHE.? Rupert is the Chairman and Program Director of the graduate program in healthcare administration at Governors State University.? ?He is also very highly regarded by our members because of his distinguished service on behalf of many healthcare leadership associations.? I value his mentorship and friendship, and I know that we will all benefit from his tour as our Chicago ACHE leader.
