The Chicago Health Executive Forum Diversity and Inclusion Committee led, by Director Charlene Roderick hosted a fabulous Diversity & Inclusion summer networking event for healthcare?colleagues who are?committed to eliminating?healthcare disparities and increasing diversity career advancement in healthcare.?David Gomez and Associates sponsored the event. The event was attended by over 100 guests and was two years in the making, according to Ms. Roderick. The event was a collaboration? between CHEF and five Chicagoland healthcare associations who are as follows:
- NASHE ~ National Association of Health Services Executives – A Non-profit Association of Black Healthcare Executives
- AHLF ~ Asian American Health Leaders Forum
- GLMA ~ Healthcare Professionals for LGBT Equality
- NFLHE ~ National Forum of Latino Healthcare Executives
- IDHM~ The Institute for Diversity in Healthcare Management
The event was held at the III Forks Prime Steakhouse where the evening consisted of collaboration, food, fun while meeting new friends and creating strategic relationships. The theme was ? Together We Achieve More ?. Guests participated in a Chicago Theme of networking where they moved to up to eight different tables of 10 people identified by Chicago landmarks to engage in a conversation and exchange business cards. Each participant met and exchanged contact information with at least 80 people. The attendees were from various organizations and backgrounds from working in positions as Early Careerists, Middle Managers to C-suite roles.? Bryan Manalo, RN from Lurie Children?s? Hospital said ?It was great to be surrounded by people who have the same goals and mindset when it comes to improving health care.?
At the event, David Gomez, DG&A?s CEO, gave an inspirational speech on diversity. He has driven his firm, David Gomez & Associates, Inc., to INC. 500 fastest-growing status, as well as built two other businesses during his career.?His skill in diversity consulting has earned him a consistent and prominent presence in the pages of national media and trade publications, including the Wall Street Journal as well as Latino Leaders and Dinero magazines.
